What page-to-image conversion changes

Rendering a PDF page as a JPG turns the visible page into pixels. The picture is convenient for an image-based workflow, but text is no longer selectable in the way it is in a text-based PDF. Keep the PDF if readers need searchable text or crisp scaling at different zoom levels.

02

Match resolution to the purpose

A thumbnail needs fewer pixels than a page intended for close reading. Too small an image can make tiny text unreadable; an unnecessarily large one costs storage and transfer time. Start from the intended display or print size rather than assuming the largest possible file is always best.

03

Look for JPG artifacts

JPG compression can create fuzzy edges around small letters and high-contrast diagrams. Inspect those details after export. For screenshots and line art, a lossless image format may be more suitable when your chosen converter offers one. Avoid repeatedly resaving the same JPG while editing it.

Availability in Folio

PDF to JPG is coming soon. This is different from the active JPG to PDF tool, which converts in the opposite direction. If your goal is simply to share one PDF page, use Split PDF and send the extracted page as a PDF instead of converting it into an image.
